The age calculator can determine the age or the interval between two dates. The calculated age will be displayed in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds.
A person's age can be calculated differently in different cultures. This calculator is based on the most common age system. In this system, age increases on a person's birthday. For example, the age of a person who has lived 3 years and 11 months is 3, and her age will increase to 4 on her next birthday a month later. Most western countries use this age system.
In some cultures, age is expressed by counting years with or without including the current year. In one of the traditional Chinese age systems, people are born at the age of 1 and their age increases on the traditional Chinese New Year rather than on their birthday. For example, if a child is born just one day before the traditional Chinese New Year, 2 days later the child will be 2 years old even though he is only 2 days old.
In some situations, the output of months and days from this age calculator can be confusing, especially when the start date is the end of a month. For example, we count February 20 through March 20 as one month. However, there are two ways to calculate the age from February 28, 2022 to March 31, 2022. If we consider that February 28 to March 28 is one month, the result is one month and 3 days. If we consider February 28 and March 31 as the end of the month, the result is one month. Both results are reasonable. Similar situations arise for April 30 → May 31, May 30 → June 30, and so on. The confusion comes from the odd number of days in different months. In our calculations, we use the first method — counting month-to-month by the day of the month.

Traditional systems such as the Chinese age reckoning, where a person is 1 at birth and gains a year at the New Year, are not used here.
Months are counted by the day of the month: Feb 20 → Mar 20 is one month, then the leftover days are added. For month-end cases there can be two reasonable answers (e.g., Feb 28 → Mar 31 could be "1 month 3 days" or "1 month"). This calculator uses the month-to-month by date method — the first approach.
Yes. In non-leap years, a 29 February birthday is treated as 28 February, so your age increments correctly and your next birthday is shown at the end of February. The day dropdown also never offers impossible dates like 31 February.
