Union communications Minister, A Raja on Monday admitted in the Parliament that PSU, BSNL which once assumed among the top service providers in India has witnessed a fall in market share from 31% in 2006-2007 to 16.7%.
The Minister however attributed the fall to competition and not to any managerial aspects. BSNL being a Central Public Sector undertaking, has to follow established institutinal procedures in its various function, which is not required in a private company, he said in the defense of BSNL.
He said BSNL is now aiming for a revival having divided itself into various business units.
